Mosquito nets and allergies: what a mesh can and cannot filter
A standard mosquito net stops insects, not pollen: its 0.8 × 0.8 mm cell is far wider than a pollen grain. A dust and pollen filter fabric holds back part of it, at the cost of some airflow. It helps on the windows you keep open. It does not replace an air purifier or your doctor's advice.

Why a mosquito net lets pollen in
A mosquito is several millimetres long, so a 0.8 × 0.8 mm cell is enough to stop it. Pollen and fine dust are many times smaller and drift straight through.
That is not a fault. The mesh was made for insects, and for the air to pass freely.

A mesh is not a medical device
Filter fabric reduces what comes in through an open window. It does not clean the air in the room, and it lets less breeze through, so the room may feel stuffier.

Will a pollen mesh stop my hay fever?
It lowers what comes in through an open window, nothing more. Ask your doctor about the allergy itself and treat the mesh as one of the steps.
Should every window get filter fabric?
No. Choose the windows you open most in the rooms that matter, and keep standard mesh on the rest.
Does filter fabric make the room darker?
A little. It is denser than standard mesh, so it passes slightly less light as well as less air.
Can a dirty net make allergies worse?
A net full of dust can release it back into the room with the breeze. Clean it after windy days.
