Fly screen or mosquito net: is there a difference?
No. Fly screen, fly mesh, insect netting and mosquito net are four names for one product: a fine mesh in a frame over a window or door. Standard mesh stops both flies and mosquitoes and costs 350 AED per m². What changes the result is the type of mesh and the frame that fits your opening.

Why there are so many names
In British English the word is fly screen, in American English it is window screen or insect screen, and shops in the UAE mix both with mosquito net. The product on the window is the same.
A mosquito is smaller than a fly, so any mesh that stops mosquitoes also stops flies. You do not need two different nets.

The name on the invoice does not matter. The frame does, because it must match the opening.
- Sliding window: a sliding screen in the free channel of the track
- Window opening inwards: a fixed frame outside, from 350 AED per m²
- Window opening outwards: a pleated or roller screen inside
- Sliding patio door: a pleated screen, 1,550 AED per door
- Hinged door: a hinged screen door that closes by itself
What no name will fix
A screen only works if it closes tight. A gap of a few millimetres at the side lets mosquitoes in, whatever the product is called. That is why we measure every opening before we give the final price.

Can I keep the window open with a fly screen and the AC on?
