Do mosquito nets block the breeze and save on air conditioning?
A little. Any mesh slows the air somewhat, and a dense filter fabric slows it more than a standard one. A screen does not cool a room by itself. What it gives you is the choice to open the windows on mild days without letting mosquitoes in, instead of running the air conditioning.

How much air a mosquito net takes
The threads take up part of every opening, so the breeze through a mesh is weaker than through an open window. With standard mesh the difference is small.
A denser fabric, such as the dust and pollen filter, lets noticeably less air through. It trades breeze for the dust it holds back.

When open windows beat the AC
In the cooler months many evenings are mild enough to open up. That is when a screen earns its place: fresh air without the bites.
In the summer heat the windows stay shut and the air conditioning runs. A pleated net simply waits, folded into its cassette.
A screen does not cool the room
No mesh lowers the temperature, and we do not promise a lower electricity bill. Any saving comes only from the days you switch the air conditioning off and open the windows instead.

Will screens let me turn off the AC?
On mild days and evenings, yes, if the rooms can be aired through screened windows. In the summer heat a screen does not replace air conditioning.
Does a dirty mesh let less air in?
Yes. Dust fills the cells. A clean mesh lets through noticeably more air.
Which fabric gives the most airflow?
Standard insect mesh. Filter fabric gives up some airflow for the dust it holds back.
Does a net get in the way while the AC runs?
No. The window is closed anyway, and the net stays in its place without touching the air conditioning.
