How to measure a window for a mosquito net
Measure the width and the height of the opening at three points each and write down the smallest figure, then the depth of the frame where the screen will sit. That is enough for the calculator on our prices page. Before making anything, our surveyor measures again, free, because a few millimetres decide the fit.

How to measure for a mosquito net
Top, middle and bottom of the opening. Keep the smallest.
Left, centre and right. Keep the smallest.
Where the screen will sit, from the glass to the edge.
Handles, sills, locks and blinds.
One wide shot of the whole opening.
Three measuring mistakes
- Measuring the glass instead of the opening
- Writing down the largest figure, not the smallest
- Forgetting handles and sills that the screen will hit

Step 1 of 5What opening is it for?
What if the opening is not square
Measure both diagonals. If they differ noticeably, the opening is out of square, and that is exactly the case where the surveyor decides how to fit the screen.
Openings in plastered villa walls are often slightly out of line. That is normal: a fitted screen covers it with its frame, as long as the surveyor knows in advance.
We make mosquito nets from our measurements
We never make a screen from your figures, only from our own survey. Your measurements are for the calculator and a first idea of the price.
Why we measure again anyway
The surveyor decides where the screen sits, on the frame or inside the opening, and how deep. That choice changes the size by more than a tape measure error.
Measuring is free in Abu Dhabi, and if our size is wrong, fixing it is our job.
What our clients say
The existing nets had holes from sun damage. They replaced them with UV-resistant mesh that should last much longer.
We wanted nets that wouldn't block the view too much. They installed very fine black mesh that's almost invisible from inside. Perfect.
The nets in the guest room were torn and looked messy. They replaced them with new fiberglass mesh and the room looks fresh again.
Doors and sliding tracks
For a sliding balcony door, also photograph the track from above. Whether it has a spare channel decides if a sliding screen can run in it.
For a door, measure height from the floor or threshold inside the frame, not from the tiles beside it. A pleated net runs on a low flat track, so the floor line counts.
For French or double doors, measure the whole opening across both leaves and note which way each leaf opens.

Questions and answers
Do you charge for measuring?
No. The survey is free anywhere in Abu Dhabi.
What if my window is not square?
Write down the smallest width and height and both diagonals. The surveyor decides how to fit the screen on the spot.
Centimetres or millimetres?
Millimetres. A screen is made to the millimetre, and rounding to centimetres already loses the few millimetres that decide the fit.
Can I fit the screen myself from my own sizes?
We make and fit our screens ourselves, after our own survey. That way the size, the fitting and the warranty stay in one pair of hands.
